Welcome To The Glad Foundation

The Glad Foundation is a charity based in Shawlands, in the southside of Glasgow.

We provide a wide range of free and affordable music workshops for people of all ages and abilities.

About Us

The Glad Foundation was started to put into action the social and community purpose of its sister organisations, The Glad Cafe and Glad Rags Thrift – to create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to engage meaningfully and creatively with music and each other, regardless of their experience or background.

We began life running a range of small initiatives funded by the support of Glad Rags, the Glad Community Choir, donations of money, and grants. These included samba drumming with young carers in Pollok, songwriting with students in Mount Florida Primary, and a regular music group for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

With the added support of grant funders like Creative Scotland, Awards For All/Big Lottery Fund, and The Robertson Trust, as well as the continuing support of our sister organisations and donations from The Irvine Sneddon Memorial Trust and other generous supporters, PLUS our own fundraising through events like the Kiltwalk, we are delighted to be doing more than ever before. Visit our ‘WHAT’S ON’ page for more information on our current projects.

***SPACES AVAILABLE***
The Glad Foundation Guitar Group has a few spaces available to new members, ages S1-6, learning electric, acoustic, or bass guitar! The group will be starting back online on Thursday 21st January.

Email info@thegladfoundation.co.uk for information or to register.

Throughout the pandemic the group has been running online, and all of the players and tutor Andrew Pattie have done incredibly adapting to the new set up and keeping their music-making going. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to reshare the group's fantastic Lockdown Summer Concert which I've decided to dub 'ROCKDOWN'.

Andrew is a brilliant musician and teacher, and long-time friend of the Glad who has been leading the group since its very beginning- and he's also available for private lessons for all ages He's made a short video about himself and his online teaching which you can watch here: youtu.be/THhmUqdFrfU

Looking forward to another great term of music 🙂
